Workshop space to share in Aberdeen

Posted by Hannah McAndrew on 3 February 2010

I live in Aberdeen and are taking a beginners evening class in
ceramics at the moment. But I find that two hours a week isn't nearly
enough time to practice and get any better at it. So I am therefore
looking for a potters studio in Aberdeen where I could spend some time
during the days (I'm looking for a job so I've got plenty of time
during the days), and practice throwing.

Do you know of any workshops/potters with a wheel in Aberdeen who
would be willing to let me use the facilities?

Best regards

Call For Artists

Posted by Hannah McAndrew on 14 December 2009

CALL FOR ARTISTS

An talla solais (Ullapool Visual Arts) is an emerging Arts Centre in Ullapool. We are a Registered Charity and run classes and courses as well as running a programme of exhibitions throughout the year and rent studios to local and visiting Artists (see web-site).

As part of our development we are approaching funders to raise money to build a Ceramic facility onto the existing building (you may have remembered all this from my talk last year at Kinrogan).

We are organising a show of just Ceramics for our busy slot in the summer next year and are looking for Ceramic Artists to show with us.

We hope to show a wide range of work, and would be particularly interested in some wall -based work.

Anyone interested in showing can apply by sending a disc of up to 6 images of recent work and a current CV to: Allison Weightman

For further information you can phone me on 01854 655310 or email at allison@scoraig.com.

Thrown jars wanted

Posted by Hannah McAndrew on 8 November 2009

I am looking for someone to make these type of rough clay jars. Weight is anything from around 5 - 10lbs whatever is possible. No need for any fine delicate work on them although the ability to encorporate a logo would be welcome.

There are no precise dimensions - originally on Okinawa the hand span of the practitioner was supplied and the neck of these jars made to measure. More details can be provided if we are able to find someone to make them at reasonable costs. One off's originally with the possibility of others at a later stage. Often a nice ornamental set is sometimes made. Again that's something for the future.
Contact Lindsay by email on lindsay.mckenzie@btopenworld.com if you are interested.

Call for artists

Art and Poetry Unite: Call for Artists

Deadline: 30 November 2009

Interested in displaying artwork in non-traditional spaces? A partnership between Fife Contemporary Art & Craft, the Museum and Gallery Studies Programme of St Andrews University and StAnza international poetry festival invites artists whose work relates to the theme of poetry to take part in an exciting, new exhibition opportunity.
Artworks of any media are sought for selected outdoor or indoor spaces in St Andrews, Fife.
This multi-venue exhibition will open with StAnza on 17 March 2010 and remain open to the public during the five-days of the festival. Depending upon the nature of the work, part of the exhibition may have the potential to be extended.
As this exhibition is curated by students the budget is limited, but travel, material, and installation expenses will be taken into consideration.
Artists and makers interested in viewing or directly responding to possible installation spaces are encouraged to make contact as soon as possible.

Interested?
